More Pain

Just when I was starting to relax because the post-op pain was getting less each day.... No such luck, I had my first physiotherapy assessment yesterday and I've had bad pain again ever since. Basically now the shoulder strap as gone I've got start getting movement back in my shoulder and arm and it hurts. The initial path of exercises is to try and get full movement back without any load but it's still painful and very scary just how much movement I've lost in such a short period of time. As before I have a number of new exercises designed to do the above which I need to do every 2 hours. On a positive note I really feel now that the road to recovery is on its way.

What joy Christmas will be!! If I don't post before...

HAPPY CHRISTMAS

Post Operation

Well I finally had the operation last Friday (2nd December) and guess am on the Road to recovery. Was in hospital for 5 days and the operation seems to have been a success. I still have a lot of pain from both the wound and shoulder and arm but it's much less than before. If on a scale of 1 to 10 my original pain was 10, my current pain is around 6. The wound is about 3.5 inches long on the top of my right shoulder. Here's a picture:

Operation Scar Picture

I still can't use my right arm/hand and although I have some exercises to do every couple of hours, given by the Physiotherapist, I have to keep the shoulder strapped up until I have the staples removed and the hospital starts me on physiotherapy. The strap is also a must so that the tendons and nerve can heal before they get used again. The Staples are being removed 16th December and my first physiotherapy assessment is 20th December.

More Waiting

Last week was I guess another week from hell. Basically I've still not had my operation so am still in very bad pain and unable to use my right arm/hand. I've also got a high temperature again so I think I still have the infection. Due to problems it's looking like I'm not going to get the operation until 2nd December.

A Week From Hell

What a week. It all started Monday morning when I lost feeling in my right hand and started with very bad pains in my right shoulder. Having spent almost 12 hours at Queens Medical Centre they diagnosed me with an infected shoulder joint and found that I had grown some additional bone on my shoulder. By Tuesday evening the pain was getting worse, It was bad, I've never experienced pain like it. The pain was that bad that I went to Hospital again (this time Kings Mill in Mansfield) and was admitted straight away. I was given some medication and let out later on Wednesday but was admitted again Friday.

This time I was seen by a specialist who gave me some steroid injections and asked that I see him in Newark Hospital next week. I'm now back at home again and am still in immense pain and am unable to use my right arm/hand. I just hope the specialist can do something when I see him next week.
