Conures meet the camera

Interesting short movie I shot of some Golden Conures at a Wildlife Sanctuary. The birds were extremely intrigued, especially when I switched the viewfinder so they were able to see themselves. Click here to watch the Conures meet the camera.

Christmas @ St Ives

I've managed to finish editing the footage taken in our recent trip to Cornwall. With a running time of almost 10 minutes it is quite a large download at 43Mb. That said I still I hope you feel it worth the download. So please enjoy my first official Video Blog. To view the video click on the thumbnail above left or if you don't see an image to click then click here.

St Ives Photographs

St Ives Christmas Photos

I've managed to download some of the photographs we took whilst in Cornwall over the Christmas break and published them as an album on the site. Click here or on the photo above to view. Hope you enjoy them, I'm going to make a start editing the video footage I recorded and hopefully publish a video blog of the trip by the new year.

Winter Returns

Winter Window

We got back from our Christmas break in St Ives, Cornwall where we have had lovely glorious sunhine albeit it very cold only to be greeted by wintery snows. The photograph to the left here shows the view from my house at about 08:30 this morning. Anyway I digress, my main reason for this post was to simply wish you all a Happy Christmas and all the best for 2006. I would also like to thank everyone who sent us gifts and cards. They were great thanks, we finally only got around to opening them late last night. If I feel up to it later I'm going to try and publish at least the photos taken in St Ives and try to make a start editing the footage ready to be post.

Camel Convoy

Finally I've posted some content to the video archive. It's nothing spectacular and definately won't win any oscars. Camel Convoy is a short film edited from footage taken on a trip to Tunisia in October 2000. I've not taken much care or time editing it so it's a little raw, the main purpose was to get something edited so that I could practice getting the compression mastered for web publishing. I think I've got the compression about right and hope the movie should play just as well on Windows machines as it does on my Mac. Let me know if you have any issues with playback. The quicktime movie is 5.3mb and runs for just 1 minute 52 seconds. Click on the thumbnail above or here to view Camel Convoy.

Yesterday I started to sort through my old photos taken over the years with the hope in producing a number of albums to publish on my website. The first 2 albums are now finished and available for you to look at. The new albums are of photographs taken in Cornwall 2003 and then locally at Rufford Park and Abbey. Hope you enjoy them, I will posting further albums over the coming weeks. The photos can be found by clicking on the photo archive link or clicking on the images below.

Once again hope you all have a great christmas, and all the best for the new year.

More Pain

Just when I was starting to relax because the post-op pain was getting less each day.... No such luck, I had my first physiotherapy assessment yesterday and I've had bad pain again ever since. Basically now the shoulder strap as gone I've got start getting movement back in my shoulder and arm and it hurts. The initial path of exercises is to try and get full movement back without any load but it's still painful and very scary just how much movement I've lost in such a short period of time. As before I have a number of new exercises designed to do the above which I need to do every 2 hours. On a positive note I really feel now that the road to recovery is on its way.

What joy Christmas will be!! If I don't post before...

HAPPY CHRISTMAS

Stapleless

Not sure if I spelt the heading correctly :) The nurse removed my staples today and told me that the wound is looking very good and mending well. It still feels very tender but is much more comfortable without the staples. Here's another picture with the staples removed (after the blood was wiped away, ouch!):
Staples Removed
As you can see in comparison to the photo take just a few days after the operation below the wound looks much better now and is healing well. The next hurdle is starting the physiotherapy next Tuesday when I'm hoping I can loose the shoulder strap and start using my arm again.

Post Operation

Well I finally had the operation last Friday (2nd December) and guess am on the Road to recovery. Was in hospital for 5 days and the operation seems to have been a success. I still have a lot of pain from both the wound and shoulder and arm but it's much less than before. If on a scale of 1 to 10 my original pain was 10, my current pain is around 6. The wound is about 3.5 inches long on the top of my right shoulder. Here's a picture:

Operation Scar Picture

I still can't use my right arm/hand and although I have some exercises to do every couple of hours, given by the Physiotherapist, I have to keep the shoulder strapped up until I have the staples removed and the hospital starts me on physiotherapy. The strap is also a must so that the tendons and nerve can heal before they get used again. The Staples are being removed 16th December and my first physiotherapy assessment is 20th December.
